Barolo – Iconic and Uncompromising
Giuseppe Rinaldi is one of the most iconic names in Barolo and a producer deeply respected by wine lovers and professionals worldwide. The winery is located in the town of Barolo itself and is considered among the absolute greatest traditionalists in the area.
That Giuseppe Rinaldi is among the finest producers in Barolo is beyond any discussion today. The production is extremely limited, and the wines usually sell out immediately after release. For this reason, the wines are sold exclusively by allocation and - at the request of the Rinaldi family - primarily to restaurants. We at Copenhagen Wine are very grateful for the entrusted collaboration!
History and Philosophy
The story of Giuseppe Rinaldi spans several generations. The family has always cherished the classic Piedmontese methods and worked purposefully to create wines with authenticity, depth, and longevity.
Giuseppe Rinaldi himself was known as an uncompromising advocate for traditional craftsmanship and minimal intervention. It is a philosophy based on manual work in the vineyard, respect for nature, and vinification without technical shortcuts. No manipulation - only time, experience, and terroir.
Vineyards and Cuvées
The winery owns about six hectares of vineyards, of which approximately four hectares are planted with nebbiolo for Barolo. Vineyards such as Brunate, Le Coste, Bussia, Cannubi San Lorenzo, and Ravera are among the most sought-after crus in Barolo and represent some of the area's most distinctive expressions.
The grapes from each vineyard are vinified separately. Only after fermentation and aging are the wines blended into the legendary cuvées Brunate and Tre Tine. No cultured yeast is used, no filtration, and only a minimum of sulfur. The wines are deeply traditional and balance power, structure, and finesse with a complexity that unfolds over decades.
Next Generation
After Giuseppe Rinaldi's passing in 2018, daughters Marta and Carlotta Rinaldi have continued the winery's work with impressive confidence. Marta, a trained oenologist since 2008, and Carlotta, an agronomist since 2012, worked closely with their father for many years and have fully embraced his uncompromising approach.
Today, they stand as guarantors that the house of Giuseppe Rinaldi continues to produce wines that are among the most authentic and sought-after in Barolo - and many would argue that the quality has never been higher.
Giuseppe Rinaldi at Copenhagen Wine
Giuseppe Rinaldi is Barolo in its purest and unadulterated form. Wines that require time, patience, and reflection - but reward with a depth and emotional resonance that leaves a lasting impression.
These are wines we treat with the respect they deserve, and which are offered exclusively by allocation. For us, the collaboration with Giuseppe Rinaldi is both a privilege and a responsibility.
