Great single-vineyard Riserva Barbaresco.
It is one of the best wines Walter Lodali has ever produced! This wine has both nerve and great finesse—a transparent and vibrant interpretation where everything seems to fall into place in a harmonious whole. A truly distinguished example of how elegant and captivating Barbaresco can be when it comes from the right hands and the right place.
Bright red fruits—redcurrants, raspberries, and cherries—along with blood orange, a hint of mint, and chalky, almost salty undertones. Everything appears light and precise, yet intense with a nerve that makes the flavor linger long in the mouth.
A wine that can easily be enjoyed now with a bit of air but will beautifully develop over the next decade. It deserves a refined dish—try it with grilled light meats or dishes with mushrooms.
The grapes come from the Rocche Massalupo vineyard in Treiso, one of the highest and most chalky areas in the Barbaresco zone. Here, the soil is rich in white marl and chalk, and the vineyard sits at approximately 350-400 meters altitude, contributing to the wine's fresh acidity and aromatic vibrancy. It is precisely the combination of chalk and altitude that gives the wine its airy and precise style.
The fermentation takes place traditionally in steel tanks with long maceration, and subsequently, the wine is aged in large botti for a minimum of 30 months, which supports the elegance and allows the terroir to shine through without overpowering oak influence.
