Lodali

"We need the best grapes" said Giovanni Lodali in 1939 - "because here wine is everywhere, so if you don't make the right choices, people will go out and buy elsewhere".

The history of "Lodali" began with Giovanni Lodali, who started making wine for the customers of his small restaurant in Treiso - which was then a very small village. After the war, Giovanni built a house and a large cellar - and this is where he created the roots of the Lodali family in Treiso.

In 1955, his son Lorenzo graduated from the oenological school in Alba. In 1958, Lorenzo, together with his wife Rita, produced his first Barbaresco and Barolo. Business went well and the wine was also sold abroad.

In 1982 Lorenzo died. Rita, with her little son Walter, found the courage to continue and decided to continue with the project, concentrating on the quality and the typical characteristics that create a good Barbaresco and Barolo.

In 1998 it was Walter's turn to pick up a diploma from the oenological school in Alba, and he was an even younger heir to the family business than his father had been. But he was already involved in the world of wine and he brought with him new life, care and improvements to the terrain of the Bric Sant'Ambrogio and Rocche dei Sette Fratelli vineyards. He renewed the equipment in the cellar and perfected the winemaking and production techniques.

In 2005 came the first vintage of Lodalis Riserva Barolo and Barbaresco, called Lorens (Lorenzo in Piedmontese dialect) with selected grapes from the Bricco Sant'Ambrogio and Rocche dei Sette Fratelli vineyards.

Giovanni, Lorenzo and Walter: three generations with their heart and roots in the Langa area.
