This Barolo has firm but finely polished tannins, a powerful structure, and a high alcohol of 15 percent, so it calls for dishes with richness and weight that can meet the tannins and soften them. The aroma's plums, licorice, and dried herbs play beautifully against braised and slow-roasted meat as well as umami from mushrooms and truffles, while the aged cheeses match the wine's intensity without taking over. Avoid lean fish dishes, where the firm tannins easily turn metallic. Serve preferably after an hour of decanting, so the tannins get air and the dishes get the full-bodied companion they deserve.

About the wine

Nebbiolo from the single vineyard Bricco Ambrogio in Roddi – an area in the northern part of Barolo, known for producing wines with both power and finesse.

In the glass, the wine displays a classic garnet red with an orange tint at the edge. The aroma is complex and detailed, featuring notes of ripe plums, licorice, dried herbs, and a hint of tobacco.

The taste is intense and structured with depth and balance – the tannins are firm but finely polished, and the finish is long and elegant.

Serve it at 14–16 °C – preferably after an hour of decanting if you're enjoying it young.

A classic Barolo with both backbone and charm.

The grapes are hand-harvested, and the best grapes are carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks over 25 days with temperature control, followed by an additional 25 days of maceration with a submerged cap. The wine is then aged in large 25 hl Austrian oak barrels and allowed to rest in the bottle for 12 months before release.

This opens with aromas of French oak, coconut, menthol and fragrant blue flowers. It's full bodied and enveloping, doling out cherry marinated in spirits, prune, vanilla and licorice alongside fine-grained tannins.
