Great single vineyard Riserva Barbaresco.
It is one of the best wines Walter Lodali has ever produced!
It is a wine with both nerve and great finesse – a transparent and vibrant interpretation, where everything seems to fall into place in a harmonious whole. A truly excellent example of how elegant and captivating Barbaresco can be when it comes from the right hands and the right place.
The 2021 vintage may very well surpass the impressive 2020. It opens with an intense and nuanced scent of rose petals, lavender, mint, and blood orange, and the balance between fruit and wood is masterful. A wine with exceptional purity, length, and class - simply magical!
Ranked as #13 on the Vinous Top 100 wines 2025 list - 97 Points
The grapes come from the Rocche Massalupo vineyard, one of the highest and most chalky areas in the Barbaresco zone. Here, the soil is rich in white marl and chalk, and the vineyard sits at about 350-400 meters of altitude, which contributes to the wine's fresh acidity and aromatic vibrancy. It is precisely the combination of chalk and altitude that gives the wine its airy and precise style.
Fermentation takes place traditionally in steel tanks with long maceration, and the wine is subsequently aged in large botti for at least 30 months, which supports the elegance and allows the terroir to shine through without overwhelming oak influence.
When purchasing three bottles, they are delivered in a special OWC.
