Collection: Rose wine

Rosé wine is made from blue grapes, but with only brief contact between the juice and skins. It is precisely this short skin contact that gives the wine its pink colour without drawing much tannin along with it. The longer the skins are allowed to rest in the juice, the deeper the colour becomes, ranging from delicate silvery pink to a more intense, berry-coloured rosé.

The result is typically a fresh and fruit-driven wine with light body and good acidity, and that makes rosé a rewarding companion, both for light dishes and for relaxed hygge on the terrace. Most rosé wines are dry, but there are also off-dry and sweet versions, so there is something to seek out no matter what you prefer. Provence in France is particularly known for the dry, pale style, but rosé can in fact be made in many places and from many grape varieties.

With us, the majority of the selection has roots in Italien, where rosé takes on its very own Italian tone. The centre of gravity lies in Toscana, where the blue grapes often yield a juicy, berry-marked rosé with taut acidity. We also carry rosé wine from Sicilien, which typically offers a little more southern fullness, as well as from the cooler Valle d'Aosta in the north, where the style tends to be pale and nervy at the fresh end. Together they paint a picture of how varied an expression rosé can have, even within a single country.

Rosé wine is most often drunk young and shows at its best well chilled. This brings out both the fruit and the acidity and keeps the wine crisp in the glass. If you want to pair it, rosé is flexible enough for light starters, vegetables, fish and white meat, and it works just as nicely as a refreshment all on its own. Dive into the selection and find the nuance that suits your particular occasion, whether you are looking for something delicate and dry or a slightly rounder style.
