The name ζωή is ancient Greek for Zoe and means 'Life'
In the 2024 harvest, Zoe and John chose to remove a little must from each fermentation tank with the aim of both concentrating the aromas in their rosso/brunello and creating a fresh and fruity rosato for the warm summer months. The year brought a rainy September, which resulted in slightly larger berries than usual – and thus also an ideal opportunity to draw off some liquid and increase concentration.
The grapes come from all their parcels and were destemmed and left with the skins for 24 hours before the must was drawn off and fermented without the addition of sulfur. A little sulfur was added before bottling to ensure stability. The fermentation proceeded spontaneously, and the result is a full-bodied and intense rosato with 13% alcohol and an acidity of 6.1 g/L. It is made from fully ripe grapes harvested in the second half of October and shows an unusual depth and structure.
We recommend enjoying the wine slightly chilled - 14 degrees - where it best shows its fine complexity and texture.
It is ready to drink now, but we also believe it can develop beautifully with some time in the cellar.
Only 2,000 bottles have been produced in total.
