Collection: Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur

Bitouzet's roots in Burgundy stretch back to the 19th century. Vincent's great-great-great-grandfather, M. Gillotte, arrived in Auxey Duresses in 1802 and became the village's mayor. In 1804, the Bitouzet family settled in Volnay and were among the first in the region to bottle their own wines. Vincent's grandfather already won medals for his winemaking in 1860. Annie Prieur, Vincent's wife, also comes from a distinguished wine-producing family. The shared heritage from both Bitouzet and Prieur has created a vineyard with both pride and breadth. Francois Bitouzet, Vincent and Annie's only son, now continues the deep commitment with his parents.

Vincent and Francois take great care in the cultivation of their vineyards. Organic certification was achieved in 2013. No herbicides or pesticides are used, they use organic compost when needed and the use of copper sulfate is very limited.

The vineyard covers 12 hectares, of which approximately 4 hectares are planted with Chardonnay and the remaining 8 hectares with Pinot Noir. In Meursault, they possess the fantastic fields such as "Les Corbins" and "Clos du Cromin", as well as the Premier Cru fields "Charmes", "Perrieres" and "Santenots". In Volnay they have holdings in the most recognized fields, including Premier Crus such as "Les Aussy", "Taillepieds", "Clos des Chenes", "Pitures", "Caillerets". In addition, Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur also produces excellent Bourgogne Blanc, Bourgogne Rouge and Bourgogne Passetoutgrains.

In the cellar, classic Burgundy methods are used and only natural yeast strains are used. The white wines are fermented and aged in barrels with significant contact with lees to develop richness and complexity. The red wines undergo a short cold maceration and are fermented at high temperatures. The winery is known for its exceptional wines, which we are very happy to be able to offer in Copenhagen Wine.
