This is a full-bodied and powerful Volnay with dark cherries, plum and a distinct earthy character, carried by a firm tannin structure and fresh acidity. The earthy, terroir-driven fruit plays beautifully alongside dishes that themselves have an earthy depth, while the firm tannin and acidity cut through the richness of poultry, pork and charcuterie. Choose dishes with a moderate to robust intensity, so the wine and food become equal partners, and do let lightly fragrant herbs like thyme and rosemary play up the wine's elegant side.

About the wine
The grapes are harvested manually and sorted at the vineyard. Thus, only the grapes that show signs of perfect maturity find their way into the wine. The wine ages in French oak barrels for a period of 12 to 16 months. A full-bodied and powerful wine showing dark cherry, plum and earthy characters supported by a firm tannic structure that will benefit from time in the cellar. An intense wine from a great vintage.
