Collection: France

France is one of the world's leading wine countries, with classic wine regions spread across the entire country and a well-developed appellation system. The French AOC/AOP rules establish, among other things, permitted grapes, yields and growing methods, and that is a large part of the explanation for why French wine so often tells you about a particular place. With us, Bourgogne takes up the most space, and it is a good way in if you want to understand what terroir means in practice. Here cultivation places great emphasis on the individual plot, and the region is especially known for Pinot Noir for red wine and Chardonnay for white wine.

Alongside Bourgogne we carry a broad selection from Champagne, where the sparkling wine is made according to the traditional method. This is typically where you look when a bottle is to mark an occasion or simply lift an entirely ordinary evening. From Rhône you will find the more powerful red wines, a style that is expressed, among other places, in appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

We also have wines from Loire, which is especially known for white wines from Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Melon de Bourgogne. The style spans widely, from fresh and crisp to fuller types, so there is something to explore no matter what you like. Finally, we carry wines from Jura, a smaller region in eastern France that is worth knowing if you feel like trying something a little different.

France naturally also holds the great names such as Bordeaux, which is known for red blends of especially Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, as well as regions such as Alsace, Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence and Beaujolais. If you want help finding your way, you can start from the region or the grape and let the appellation guide you towards a style that suits the occasion. Whether you are looking for an everyday bottle or something for a special dinner, French wine is a good place to begin.
