This Corton Grand Cru has an elegant, medium to full body with silky-soft tannins, fresh acidity and a deep aroma of dark berries, violets and forest floor. The soft tannins and the fresh acidity make it a fine partner for rich, juicy meat and for dishes with earthy, umami-rich notes like mushrooms and truffle, where the wine's minerality and berry fruit play up against the depth. Choose preparations with a bit of a seared crust or braising, so the body matches the weight of the dish, and remember that pinot noir is among the most friendly red wines for cheese.

About the wine

An exceptional example of what red wines from Burgundy can achieve, sourced from the iconic Grand Cru vineyard Le Rognet on the Corton hill.

The unique character of the terroir and the elegance of pinot noir are highlighted at a sublime level.

In the glass, the wine presents itself with a deep ruby red color. The aroma is complex, enticing with dark cherries, forest berries, violets, and subtle hints of spices and forest floor.

The taste is full-bodied and well-structured, with ripe berries, an elegant minerality, and silky tannins that lead into a long and balanced finish.

The Le Rognet vineyard is located on the northern part of the Corton hill, where limestone clay soil and southeast-facing slopes provide optimal conditions for pinot noir. The grapevines are old and yield small, concentrated grapes, which are carefully selected during harvest.

The wine is traditionally vinified with long maceration to extract depth and complexity. After fermentation, it is aged for 12-15 months in French oak barrels, many of which are new, to add finesse and integrate the flavors.

Serve it at 14-16 degrees Celsius, and give it time in the glass to fully open up.

A wine with aging potential that will only grow in complexity over the next 10-15 years.
