This Volnay is an elegant and silky-smooth pinot noir with medium body, fine tannins and a fresh, mineral acidity. It works best with dishes in the same light to medium-bodied weight class, where the soft tannins meet moderate richness without overpowering the pure red fruit. The ripe cherries and raspberries harmonize with juicy poultry and veal, while the hint of forest floor and spice from the barrel plays beautifully against earthy mushrooms and truffle. The fresh acidity and low tannin make the wine unusually friendly toward aged cheeses, where the cheese's richness in turn rounds off the tannins.

About the wine

Elegant and refined red wine from the heart of Volnay and a beautiful representative of Volnay, known for its elegant and silky wines made from Pinot Noir.

The wine appears ruby red in the glass and opens with a complex aroma of ripe red cherries, raspberries, violets, and a hint of forest floor. The taste is full-bodied and harmonious with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, mineral finish.

The grapes come from carefully selected parcels in Volnay, where the soil of chalk and clay contributes to the wine's finesse and depth. The vineyards are situated at an ideal height, where cool nights and warm days ensure slow ripening and great aromatic complexity.

The vinification is traditional and meticulous: The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented at controlled temperatures. The wine then ages in French oak barrels for 12 months, adding fine notes of spice and structure without overpowering the pure fruit.

Serve at 14-16 degrees to allow its elegance and nuances to shine through clearly.

A wine that showcases the best of Burgundy's finesse and Arnaud Baillot's dedication to quality.

Critic reviews

Slightly reductive on the nose, but also a delicate berry fruit: raspberry, cranberry, subtle smoky wood. On the palate, the wine proves to be very well extracted, with plenty of juiciness behind the tannin structure, whose tendency towards silky finesse is unmistakable.
