Barbera d'Alba has a medium-bodied structure, ripe fruit of plum and violet, and a fresh acidity that keeps the wine in balance. The acidity cuts through richness and makes the wine a fine companion to meat dishes and hearty charcuterie, while the soft, ripe tannins suit dishes with a bit of chewy resistance and fat without drying out. Feel free to choose moderately rich preparations like braising and roasting, where the wine's roundness and body meet the food at eye level, and let the fruit-driven style lift slightly tart and spiced elements on the plate.
