This Barolo has powerful, firm tannins, high alcohol and a long, complex finish with notes of plum and distinct French oak. The structured tannins are softened by fat and protein, so you get the best balance with rich, tender meat and braised dishes, where the juices and richness meet the wine's power. The wine's intensity can carry equally intense dishes, and mature, firm cheeses provide a fine counterpoint, while you should keep it away from lean fish, where the tannins easily turn metallic.

About the wine
Lorens (Lurenz in Piedmontese) is Lodali's series of riserva wines. Here we are talking about the series' Barolo. The grapes come exclusively from the Sant'Ambrogio vineyard, and a special selection is made so that only the best grapes are used for Lorens.
The result is a Barolo with an intense deep ruby red, almost garnet, color. The nose is fine and complex with elegant notes of plum. It is a powerful and balanced wine with a long aftertaste.
Lorens Barolo is aged for 24 months in French barriques and six months in the bottle before release.

This opens with aromas of French oak, coconut, menthol and fragrant blue flowers. It's full bodied and enveloping, doling out cherry marinated in spirits, prune, vanilla and licorice alongside fine-grained tannins.
93Falstaff
Bright ruby red with translucent edges. On the nose seductive scent of raspberries and sour cherry, behind it mint and some white pepper. On the palate substantial yet balanced, pleasantly warming, great interplay of tannin and acidity, spicy finish, good length and great ageing potential.
