Lucien Muzard & Fils Santenay Champs Claude Vieilles Vignes Rouge 2021
The field is close to Morgeot de Chassagne approx. 270 meters above sea level, on an east-facing gentle slope. The average age of the canes is 70 years. The soil is clay, loam and limestone, quite typical of the area. Area 1.49 hp. Hand harvested.
Vinification takes place with the majority of the grapes de-stemmed only approx. 30% whole classes. The grapes are not crushed. Natural yeast starts the fermentation.
Maturation takes place in Bourgogne oak barriques, 15-20% of which are new.
The color is a beautiful purple-red. The aroma is red fruits and berries, with notes of rose and violet.
The taste is intense and deep with fine, discreet tannins. The wine has quite rare power and juice and a long, elegant aftertaste. It is outstanding for Santenay.
Nice, full-bodied wine, still with fresh fruit.
