Lucien Muzard & Fils Santenay Vieilles Vignes Rouge 2020
Lucien Muzard & Fils Santenay Vieilles Vignes Rouge 2020
The vines stand on 3 smaller fields close to Chassagne, all of which are east-facing and gently sloping and approx. 270 meters above sea level. Total area is 3 hp. The average age of the canes is 60 years. The soil is clay, loam and limestone, quite typical of the area.
Vinification takes place with the majority of the grapes de-stemmed only approx. 30% whole classes. The grapes are not crushed. Natural yeast starts the fermentation.
Maturation takes place in Bourgogne oak barriques, 30% of which are new.
An expressive Santenay with lots of charm and a nice intense red colour.
The scent is crisp and delicious. Lots of red and dark fruits.
The taste is generous and full-bodied with a lovely seductive and lingering finish.
A wine which can easily be enjoyed on its own, but which also goes really well with lighter dishes.
