About the wine
Mineral precision from the Alps – Petite Arvine with nerve and character
Petite Arvine is a traditional grape in Valle d’Aosta and one of the clearest expressions of the region's alpine uniqueness. At Les Crêtes, they have been working purposefully with this late ripener since 1992, delivering intense and characterful white wines.
100% Petite Arvine, hand-harvested in mid-October from steep vineyards at 500-750 meters altitude, where the grape thrives in the cool and dry climate with large temperature fluctuations between day and night.
In the glass, the wine is clear and light yellow. The aroma is aromatic with floral notes of jasmine accompanied by green apples, plum, and citrus. The taste is balanced and soft, but with a pronounced salty minerality that gives length and freshness. The expression is precise and clean – it is mountain wine with a high pulse and clear terroir.
It is ideal as an aperitif.
The vineyards are located on west- and south-facing slopes with moraine-rich, light, and sandy soil, providing an airy and well-drained growth environment. The vines are cultivated with Guyot training and high planting density of 7,500 vines per hectare, contributing to the concentrated fruit. After gentle pressing of whole clusters and fermentation at low temperature in steel, the wine is aged for two months on the lees, adding roundness and structure without removing the wine's stringent expression.
