Collection: Valle d'Aosta DOC
Valle d'Aosta is a wine-producing region in northwestern Italy, near the border with Switzerland and France. It is known for its high quality wines and the Valle d'Aosta DOC classification is a set of rules and guidelines that define how the wines from this region should be produced and marketed.
To be classified as Valle d'Aosta DOC, the wine must meet the following requirements:
-
Geographical area: The wine must be produced within the Valle d'Aosta region.
-
Grape varieties: The wine must be produced from authentic grape varieties typical of the region, such as Petit Rouge, Fumin and Pinot Noir.
-
Vinification: There are strict rules for wine production, including the altitude of the vineyards, the time of picking and the wine production methods.
-
Alcohol content: The alcohol content of the wine must be at least 11%.
-
Aging: The wine must mature for at least 6 months before it can be sold.
-
Analysis and approval: The wine must be analyzed by an independent institution to ensure that it meets the relevant requirements and that it is approved before it can be sold.
These requirements are designed to ensure the high quality and authenticity of Valle d'Aosta DOC wines, and to protect the region's good reputation as one of Italy's leading wine-producing areas.
