Cool, mineral Chardonnay with a distinct alpine character - completely unoaked.
Chardonnay from Les Crêtes is a pure expression of the influence of the mountains on wine. The grapes are grown on terraced slopes up to 800 meters high around Aymavilles and Saint Christophe, where the alpine climate with cold nights and windy summers gives the wine its distinctive freshness and elegant minerality.
The wine is a clear lemon-yellow in the glass, opening with fine floral notes, tropical fruits, and a hint of clementine.
The taste is soft and rounded with a light body and lots of fruit. It is balanced by precise acidity and a prominent salty, mineral finish that reveals its altitude and soil.
Serve it at 10–12 degrees in spacious glasses.
It is excellent as an aperitif or with dishes that have body and richness – from mature cheeses and charcuterie to classic gnocchi alla bava (creamy rich cheese sauce), light meats, or indulgent pasta dishes.
The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay, harvested by hand in the second half of September. The soil is moraine-dominated with over 50% sand and granite in the subsoil – a combination that enhances the wine's cool character.
The first vintage was in 1991.
The grapes are gently pressed as whole clusters, after which the must is fermented in steel at a low temperature for 12 days. After fermentation, the wine rests for three months on the lees before bottling – a method that provides both roundness and texture without overpowering the wine's natural purity.
