Colombera & Garella Lessona DOC 2021

Pure, pristine, and refined Nebbiolo from the sandy soils of northern Piedmont – a wine with nerve, length, and exquisite balance.

This 100% Nebbiolo showcases the grape’s elegant and mineral side when allowed to grow on sandy soil in the cool climate of Lessona. 

The aroma offers wild strawberries, dried flowers, citrus, and a hint of stone. The taste is precise and vibrant, with lively acidity, chalky tannins, and a fine, salty finish.

‘Lessona’ has an impressive aging potential of over 30 years – but it’s already beautiful in the glass now, especially with mushrooms, game, or hard cheeses.

The vines grow at an altitude of 350 meters on southwest-facing slopes. The soil consists of old marine sand deposits – orange-yellow and with low pH – giving the wine both lightness and structure. It is cultivated using the classic Guyot method, and the yield is low with just 35 quintals per hectare.

Vinification occurs without temperature control, using pump overs and délestage – a technique where the must is drained and poured back over the skins for gentle extraction and aeration. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for three years, including two years in 2,500-liter casks and finishing in cement.
