The wine comes from old vines on a northeast-facing slope at an altitude of 400 meters.
The subsoil consists of chalk, limestone, and sand.
The grapes are naturally handpicked and then sorted berry by berry on a sorting table. For the first 8 days, fermentation occurs using the cryomaceration method, meaning the grapes are cooled for the first 8 days. After that, 24 days of regular fermentation at 30 degrees. No yeast is added, and production has always been organic at La Fornace.
The wine has aged for 36 months in 10 hl and 32 hl Slavonian oak barrels.
Great fruit and superb balance. There is a certain power in this wine, and it’s a wine that really unfolds fantastically now.
A Brunello with a very, very long life.
Harvested on September 30, 2016. Bottled on February 11, 2020.
