Collection: Tenimenti d'Alessandro
The Tenimenti d'Alessandro winery started in 1967, when the d'Alessandro family moved from Rome and bought 100 hectares of the Manzano estate.
In 1988, Massimo d'Alessandro began experimenting on 5 hectares to determine the quality of the area. Until then, only blended wines were produced in Cortona. It took four years of micro-winemaking and careful study of the soil and climate before the choice finally fell on Syrah.
Thanks to Syrah's special acclimatization to the dry soil of Cortona, the result was excellent with a strong touch of characteristic soil.
Tenimenti d'Alessandro then planted, in the years 1993-2002, a total of 40 hectares of Syrah with a high planting density of 8,000 plants per hectare. hectares.
Tenimenti Luigi d'Alessandro has since gained great international recognition for their Syrah - especially for Il Bosco - and this has drawn major producers such as Antinori and Ruffino to the area, where they have also started planting Syrah.
In 1999 the Cortona area obtained DOC status.
The pursuit of quality has been the driving force and after 20 years of experimentation, Tenimenti d'Alessandro continues to invest in the quality of its wines with great care.
Today their Syrah is an authentic local wine and Il Bosco and Migliara are produced from selected grapes of the highest quality. Both wines are today benchmarks for the quality that is sought after among all Italian Syrah wines.
