Ca' Di Press Barolo Perno DOCG 2022

Ca' di Press Barolo Perno is an excellent representation of what Monforte d'Alba's unique terroir can offer.

100% Nebbiolo, planted back in 1960, with deep roots on the characteristic slopes in one of Barolo's classic areas.

Ca' di Press Barolo Perno 2022 is among the best Barolos from the 2022 vintage at Grandi Langhe 2026.

The aroma is intense and nuanced with red berries and herbs accompanied by balsamic and slightly spicy notes.

The taste is elegant and lively with clear, juicy fruit, fresh acidity, and prominent but well-balanced tannins. There is both structure and concentration, but above all, a fine balance between power and finesse, followed by a long, dry, and spicy finish.

Barolo Perno 2022 can be enjoyed now with good decanting but will greatly benefit from further bottle aging and develop more complexity over the coming years. It is an excellent companion to braised beef and veal, game, dishes with mushrooms and truffle, as well as mature hard cheeses.

2022 was a warm and very dry vintage in Barolo. The old vines in Perno, with their deep root system, had a clear advantage and handled the drought well. Ca' di Press also left more foliage on the plants to protect the grapes from the intense sun and heat.

The grapes are destemmed and undergo 25-30 days of natural fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages first for 8 months in stainless steel and then for 20 months in large 25-30 hl Slavonian oak barrels. Finally, the wine receives about another year of bottle aging before release.

7,000 bottles and 200 magnums of Barolo Perno 2022 have been produced.
