A classic and serious wine with a clear origin and plenty of inner tension – offering an exceptional level of quality for the price.
The wine appears clear and lightly glossy ruby red in the glass and opens with a complex and slightly exotic aroma of dark, tart cherries and crushed black berries. There are fine hints of mentholated herbs, autumn spices, and sweet spices, complemented by dark, slightly earthy notes and a pronounced mineral edge.
In the mouth, the expression is juicy and lively with great depth and freshness. An intense core of red and dark fruits is beautifully balanced by a firm and precise tannin structure, where the finely-ground tannins gradually tighten up and provide both energy and length.
The taste is structured and harmonious with a long, persistent finish, where the stony minerality is allowed to unfold and emphasizes the wine's serious and layered character.
This is a wine that tastes of fieldwork, time, and patience – and in its class, it appears remarkably well-composed.
The combination of classic vinification, long cask and bottle aging, and a clear terroir expression makes it an obvious choice for the wine lover seeking authenticity and depth without paying for a big name.
The wine pairs excellently with well-prepared food and is particularly well-suited to meat dishes, preferably with some depth and richness, where the tannins have something to work with.
The vineyards are located at approximately 300 meters altitude with southwest exposure and consist of a classic mix of clay and sand. The vines are about 26 years old and provide a balanced yield with good concentration. All grapes are hand-harvested, and vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 23 degrees over 30 days. The malolactic fermentation lasts for five months, after which the wine matures for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels of 15–20 hectoliters. Subsequently, the wine rests for at least eight months in the bottle before release.
