This full-bodied and mineral chardonnay has a beautiful balance between intense fruit, honey and a fresh, lingering acidity along with a discreet, spicy oak depth. That acidity cuts through butter and cream, while the wine's weight and structure match dishes with a little richness, so neither food nor wine drowns out the other. Choose light, creamy dishes with fish, shellfish and poultry, where both the fruit and the minerality have room to shine, or a mature, nutty cheese that plays up against the wine's oaky character.

About the wine

Elegant and characterful magnum white wine, created from Chardonnay from one of Burgundy's most idyllic villages, located in the northern part of Côte de Beaune, where the slopes capture the sun's warmth and create ideal ripening conditions.

The cuvée is dedicated to Arnaud's daughter – Mahaut.

On the nose, you are met with a seductive aroma of honey and honeysuckle, which over time develops into light exotic notes. On the palate, the wine is lively and structured with a precise minerality and a beautiful energy that balances the intense fruit. The aftertaste is fresh and persistent, with a purity that highlights its classic Burgundy character.

The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted to ensure optimal ripeness, with vinification using natural fermentation without added sulfur. The wine is aged for 12 months in Burgundy oak barrels, 15% of which are new, adding a discreet spicy depth without overwhelming the wine's pure fruit.

This pernand-vergelesses can be enjoyed young for its fresh and lively character but also has a nice aging potential of 10-12 years, during which its aromatic complexity will unfold even more.

Critic reviews

Citrusy and subtly reductive. Lime-smoky. The palate has considerable volume, filling it well with fine phenolic extract, ripe acidity and rich, spicy components. A full-bodied yet impeccably balanced terroir type of Chardonnay.
