Since 1975, Mastrojanni has been one of the constant reference points in Montalcino, and their 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is a textbook example of how Sangiovese can express itself with both finesse and power. The vintage was marked by a dry spring and a warm summer, but with impressive temperature fluctuations between day and night in August, which ensured a balanced and calm ripening of the grapes.

The aroma features classic notes of cherries, dried rose petals, tobacco, and a subtle hint of forest floor and spices from the oak aging.

The taste is full-bodied with very impressive complexity and fine elegant tannins. There is a beautiful balance in the acidity, and the aftertaste has a long and pleasant finish.

A wine with great aging potential, but also a wine that already shows beautifully with a little air in the glass.

The grapes come from vineyards at altitudes ranging from 180 to 420 meters, exposed to the south, southeast, and southwest – and it is evident in the wine, which offers ripe fruit, but also a firm acidity and solid tannin structure. The subsoil consists of clay, sandstone, and marine deposits, contributing to the wine's complexity and minerality.

After manual harvesting and gentle pressing, the must undergoes a long maceration of at least 20 days. The wine is then aged for 36 months in large Allier vats (16-54 hl), before receiving at least 6 months of bottle aging.
