This Rosso di Montalcino is made from Sangiovese with a fresh, slightly lighter profile in this vintage, elegant and soft tannins along with a lively acidity and a mineral, long finish. The soft tannin structure and the fresh acidity mean that you get the most out of dishes with moderate richness and lighter meats, where the tannins meet protein and fat without turning sharp. The red berry fruit and the light hint of black pepper play beautifully against spiced charcuterie and herbed meat dishes, while the acidity keeps tomato and mushroom dishes fresh. Keep the dishes medium-bodied, so the wine and the food become equal partners.

About the wine

Incredibly good Rosso. The quality is really high!

The aroma offers fruity notes of red berries, along with a hint of black pepper.

The taste is warm and soft with elegant tannins. The aftertaste is mineral, long, and incredibly tasty.

The Vigna Camponovo and Vigna dei Piani vineyards, dedicated to Rosso di Montalcino, consist of a mix of clay and sand, located at an altitude of 250 m with a southwestern exposure. The vines are 30 years old.

Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 15 degrees for 20 days. About 15% of the grapes are fermented in whole clusters.

50% is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels of 20 hectoliters and 50% in steel for 6 months. At least 4 months in the bottle before release.

Certified organic.

Winemaker Tommaso on the vintage: "The 2024 vintage was a challenging one, marked by spring rains, a hot summer, and rainfall again during the harvest period. Picking took place later than usual, beginning around mid-September for Rosso di Montalcino and extending into October for the Brunello grapes.

Despite the unstable conditions, the fruit remained healthy, and yields were high. This resulted in wines with a lower alcohol level of around 13% - particularly well-suited to Rosso, enhancing its freshness and drinkability.

Fermentations were carried out naturally, with a small proportion of whole clusters, followed by around 15 days of submerged cap maceration. About half of the wine was aged for just 6 months to preserve the vintage’s fresh, floral character and highlight its immediate appeal. I consider this to be my best Rosso to date."
