This Volnay is a classic Pinot Noir with soft, moderate tannins, fresh acidity and a juicy, full-bodied red fruit that makes it incredibly versatile at the table. The tannins are soft enough that it handles both poultry and lighter meat dishes without seeming austere, while the acidity cuts nicely through richness and keeps the palate fresh. Like most Pinot Noir, it is also among the most cheese-friendly reds, and its earthy, spicy hints of oak play beautifully against dishes with mushrooms and a touch of tenderness. Feel free to choose regional French classics, where the earthy and fruity tones meet at eye level.

About the wine
Bitouzet-Prieur has 2.21 hectares spread over Echards, Aussy and Petits Gamets, all on the same site to the southeast of the village. The nose has a touch of spicy oak, which initially opens up to a beautiful, flowery character and sweet red berries. In the mouth it is full, a product of the deep soil, with a balance of acidity, juiciness and dense red fruit. A straightforward and appetizing Volnay.
