This Sangiovese from Tuscany has an elegant, precise core with moderate, ripe tannins, a medium-bodied frame and a fresh acidity that makes it a classic companion to dishes with both richness and a bit of structure. The tannins meld with fatty proteins and call for red meat, while the fresh acidity cuts through the fat and keeps the palate lively. The wine's 24 months in barrel lend a discreet, spicy note that suits grilled and slow-roasted dishes, and as a good Tuscan it falls quite naturally into place with tomato, herbs and hard Italian cheeses. Serve it at 17-18 degrees, so the tannins come across at their softest.

About the wine
In the absolute best positions around the cellar, the finest clones for this wine grow.
The wine is pure, clear, precise, and exceptionally elegant. A new era for this great wine.
24 months in barrique and tonneaux, where 30% are new barrels and 70% are used barrels for the 2nd and 3rd passage.
The wine is primarily sangiovese, but as a tribute to the old vineyard in Greve, there is a very small proportion (under 5%) of canaiolo and colorino.
The wine could easily be called Chianti Classico DOCG, but it has always been called Gratius IGT, and it will continue to be.
A very durable wine for the cellar.
The wine is certified organic.
