Le Ragnaie P.L.S. Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2021 1,5L

Passo del Lume Spento is the house's newest parcel and simultaneously the highest located Brunello plot in all of Montalcino, standing at 621 meters above sea level. The vineyard was first approved for Brunello in 2017, with the Sangiovese vines unconventionally planted in gobelet style, growing freely without trellising.

The altitude and open growth form give it a particularly elegant and airy expression, with red, fresh fruit, floral notes, and a light, almost "unrestrained" sensation that distinguishes the wine from Ragnaie’s other Brunellos. There is a subtle natural wine vibrancy to the expression, without the wine losing purity or structure.

The 2021 vintage opens with spicy herbs, forest berries, and pine. The expression is pronounced and salted with red fruit, floral tones, and a clear minerality. The finish is tight and energetic with youthful tannins and fresh acidity.

It is an intense and characterful Brunello.

As always at Le Ragnaie, the wine is fermented with natural yeast in concrete and aged for 36 months in large Slavonian botti. The result is an extremely fine and structured Brunello with clarity, energy, and great aging potential. Production is very limited.
