Collection: Le Ragnaie

Le Ragnaie

Le Ragnaie is one of the newer and already distinct voices in Montalcino, where classic Tuscan wine tradition meets a more contemporary and down-to-earth approach to wine. The estate encompasses about 28 hectares in the hilly landscape around Montalcino and includes both vineyards and olive groves. The wines are characterized by pure fruit, natural structure, and a clear imprint of their origin.

The winery was taken over in the early 2000s by Riccardo Campinoti and his family, who wanted to create a wine project focused on place rather than style. Riccardo does not come from a traditional wine family, but from the start, he has worked purposefully with sangiovese and with the ambition to let the vineyards and climate define the wines.

Le Ragnaie possesses some particularly well-placed land holdings in Montalcino. The original vineyard, Le Ragnaie, is located high and is among the highest in the area, which gives wines with freshness, lightness, and very pure fruit. Vineyards in Petroso contribute more structure and depth, while the plots in Castelnuovo dell’Abate to the south provide rounder wines with more volume. The interplay between the three areas is central to the house's expression.

In the cellar, work is simple and precise with fermentation in concrete and aging in large, neutral oak barrels, so the wines retain their clarity and vineyard character.

Le Ragnaie has achieved great recognition in the wine world, where the wines are regularly praised by international reviewers for their balance, precision, and clear terroir. Especially the house's brunellos often achieve top placements when the year's best brunello wines are selected.

At Copenhagen Wine, we see Le Ragnaie as a convincing example of modern Montalcino – wines with energy, finesse, and a clear anchoring in the vineyards they come from.
