This Brunello has firm, sandy tannins, lively cherry acidity and an earthy depth with tobacco, licorice and truffle, and it therefore thrives best in the company of rich, protein-packed food, where the meat's fattiness softens the tannins and the acidity cuts through the heavy. The mineral, almost salty character and the dried fruit notes match braised dishes and aged meat, where the flavor intensity meets the wine's greatness without drowning out its finesse. Game and mushroom dishes play up against the truffly, earthy tones, and a hard aged cheese captures both the salt and the structure.

About the wine

From the estate's one hectare on the famous Montosoli hill just north of Montalcino town. A vineyard known for delivering sangiovese with a distinctive mineral – almost salty – character, which complements the grape's tart cherry fruit beautifully. The parcel is situated at around 300 meters altitude with eastern exposure, contributing to the wine's vibrancy and finesse.

The wine is intense and nuanced with preserved cherries, dried plum, tobacco, and licorice, complemented by earthy notes, truffle, orange peel, and a hint of tar. The tannins are sandy and precise, and the whole balances grandeur and elegance in a convincing manner.

This is a Brunello with both depth and structure for long aging, but also with clarity and energy that already shows why Montosoli is considered among Montalcino's very best vineyards.

The vinification follows the estate's uncompromising approach with natural yeast, fermentation in concrete, and long maceration before the wine ages for 36 months in large Slavonian botti.
