This Brunello is slender and silky-smooth with lively acidity, bright red fruit and still youthful tannins, where elegance and energy go hand in hand. The fresh acidity cuts through richness and juicy roasts, while the fine but noticeable tannins settle down against hearty meat and umami-rich, braised dishes. Choose dishes with good structure without being too heavy, so the wine's finesse and red fruit have room to unfold. Cedar and menthol in the aroma also suit herb-spiced game and aged hard cheese.

About the wine

Vecchie Vigne is from the estate's oldest parcel, located right by the farm at about 600 meters altitude. The vineyard was planted in the 1960s and consists of old Sangiovese vines, which yield low outputs and wines with marked structure and natural concentration.

The expression is characterized by a remarkable freshness combined with depth and vibrancy. The wine opens with fresh menthol, cedar, roses, and redcurrants.

The taste is slender and silky with lively acidity and clear red fruit. The tannins are still youthful, and the wine will gain further harmony with some time in the cellar.

This is a Brunello where elegance and energy go hand in hand, and where the altitude and old vines clearly leave their mark.

The wine is vinified in concrete with natural yeast and has aged 36 months in large Slavonian botti, which supports the terroir and freshness rather than oak influence.

The production is very limited with only 3,761 bottles, and the result is a Brunello with both great aging potential and classic Le Ragnaie nerve.

More savory than sweet the 2021 Brunello di Montalcino blossoms in the glass with nuances of wild strawberry rose petals mint and white smoke. It is lifted and graceful in feel with round textures and pretty red berry fruits elevated by tantalizing acidity.
