This is an elegant Pinot Noir with discreet tannins, fresh acidity, and an intense aroma of red fruits, so it works best as an equal partner to dishes of medium body rather than the truly heavy ones. The low tannin and fresh acidity make it one of the most food-friendly red wines, where the acidity cuts through richness without fighting against it, while the red fruit plays up against lightly spiced and sweetish notes. Think poultry, light meats, and air-dried sausages prepared gently, so you keep the weight of the wine and the food in balance. Serve it in large glasses at 16-17 degrees, so the fruit and the long finish get room to breathe.

About the wine

Maladière is a steep southeast facing rock slope. The field is 4.35 hp. The vines are approx. 35 years old. The soil is blasted limestone with a thin layer of loam. Because of the steep slope, grass is planted between the canes to preserve the soil so that it is not washed away by running water.

Vinification takes place with natural yeast, on whole grapes, the majority of which are destemmed, approx. 30% whole classes.

⅔ is matured in Bourgogne oak barriques, of which 15-20% are new.

⅓ of the cuvée is matured in large Foudres, which are large oak vats.

A powerful and aromatic Premier Cru with a nice dark red colour.

The aroma is intense of red fruits and berries.

The taste is very present with discreet tannins, nice intensity and a long finish.

A wonderful food wine that should be enjoyed in good company and in large glasses.
