This Friuli red wine has a full yet elegant body with well-integrated tannins, fine acidity, and a spicy oak character of cinnamon and clove that calls for food with rich structure and a warm spice tone. The tannins and the moderate alcohol match the richness of braised meat and game dishes, where they are softened by the protein and cut through the sauce. At the same time, the acidity keeps the dishes fresh, and the wine's juicy nuances of wild berries play up against spiced and mature cheeses. Follow the region's own logic and keep the intensity of the food at eye level with the wine's muscular yet balanced expression.

About the wine

Elegant power with finesse

This Rosso DOC Friuli Colli Orientali 2022 is a beautiful expression of the region's classic red wine style.

The wine is a harmonious blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, and 10% Cabernet Franc, Schioppettino, and Carmenère, offering a full-bodied and balanced wine with character and depth.

The aroma greets you with warm spices like cinnamon and clove that meld with dark berries and subtle oak notes.

The taste is rich and intense, featuring juicy nuances of wild berries complemented by spicy elements from barrel aging. A muscular yet elegant wine with fine acidity and well-integrated tannins.

The grapes come from vineyards with the characteristic "Ponca" soil, a mix of marl and sandstone, which imparts minerality and complexity to the wine. The vines are trellised using the Guyot system, and yields are kept low at 30 quintals per hectare, ensuring high concentration in the grapes.

Vinification follows a classic approach with full destemming and a 20-day maceration for maximum extraction of color and aroma. After fermentation, the wine ages for 20 months in French barriques, 30% of which are new, adding structure and depth without overpowering the natural fruit expression.

A wine that can be enjoyed now but will also develop beautifully over the coming years.

Serve at 16-18°C for the best experience.
