This Rosso di Montalcino is light, cool and precise with lively acidity, a slender structure and red cherries rather than heavy tannins. That is why it thrives with dishes of the same light to medium-bodied weight, where the fresh acidity cuts through a little richness without drowning out the food. The soft, ripe tannins and the transparent fruit make it lovely with light meats, umami from mushrooms and charcuterie as well as tomato-based pastas, where the acidity plays up against the tartness in the sauce. Stick to moderately spiced and not overly powerful dishes, so the wine's elegance has room to shine.

About the wine

Ragnaie Rosso di Montalcino comes from a selection of vines around the estate, situated at approximately 600 meters altitude. It is not the estate's broad Rosso, but a distinct cuvée with a marked focus on freshness, elegance, and balance – and only bottled in very limited quantities.

The expression is upright and cool with red cherry fruit, floral tones, and a discreet mineral touch. On the palate, the wine appears light and precise with lively acidity, slender structure, and a clear, transparent style that points directly to the altitude and terroir.

The wine is fermented with natural yeast in concrete and aged for 24 months in large Slavonian botti, providing structure without overwhelming the purity of the fruit. A serious and very elegant Rosso di Montalcino – and a clear insight into Ragnaie's high-altitude signature.
