This is a classic Bordeaux blend with a certain youthful power, fine elegant tannins and a long, mineral finish, so it really wants fat and protein to play off against. The firm, ripe tannins are softened by the richness in red meat and become more rounded, while the wine's dark wild fruit complements charcuterie and braised meat. Don't serve it too cold, preferably around 17-18 degrees, so the tannins feel soft and not tight. A little tart contrast such as pickled greens or mustard freshens things up between the rich bites.

About the wine

Tua Rita's signature wine. 1 vintage was 1992.

80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc.

Classic Bordeaux blend and the wine that has put Tua Rita on the map.

After harvest, the grapes have been lying for approx. 18 months in barriques, new and once used.

The wine, like all other wines from Tua Rita, is very elegant.

The wine has a certain power when young, but it is a wine with great potential. The nose is dominated by wild fruits. It is very mineral and has very fine elegant tannins. The finish on the wine is wonderfully long.

A fantastic wine.

The 2020 Giusto di Notri is soft, open-knit and ready to go. Dried flowers, cedar, pipe tobacco and dried herbs open nicely in the aromatics.

Lots of incense to the aromas with sandalwood and lavender. Currants, blackberries. and fresh herbs, too. Full-bodied and very rich, with a powerful, structured mid-palate and a long, long finish. A wine for the future. Needs four to five years to soften. Best after 2026.

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Merlot, the 2020 Giusto di Notri is a ripe, bold and generous wine. The DNA of the wine has changed slightly over the years to favor the Cabernet Franc (with an increased percentage) over the Merlot, which has fallen from a previous high of about 35% to 40% of the blend a decade ago. What I like about this wine is that it manages an elegant, almost understated interpretation of a hot and dry vintage. The tannins are especially well managed in this situation. In 2020, Tua Rita's harvest was finished by October 6th
