Richebourg is one of the most sought-after Grand Cru appellations in Bourgogne. It lies in the village of Vosne-Romanée in Côte de Nuits in northern France, and as is the case for the great single vineyards here, the origin is fixed by law. Every bottle of Richebourg comes from precisely this delimited vineyard, not from a selection of sites.

It is a pure red wine appellation, and the wine is made exclusively from Pinot Noir. The vineyard covers around 8 hectares, of which roughly 7.2 hectares are in production. Richebourg is one of six Grand Cru single vineyards in Vosne-Romanée and lies in close proximity to Romanée-Conti, among others, which says a good deal about the company the vineyard keeps.

The soil is calcareous clay with an east-facing exposure, and this helps shape the style. Richebourg is known for being powerful and full-bodied, yet at the same time elegant. It is this combination of strength and finesse that makes the wines so talked about, and they are counted among the most sought-after Grand Cru from Vosne-Romanée.

When you taste a Richebourg, you encounter Pinot Noir in one of its most concentrated and at the same time most refined expressions. These are wines that hold both power and an inner balance, and that are made to develop over time. For you who would like to understand what Bourgogne's Grand Cru hierarchy can do, Richebourg is one of the truly central expressions to get to know.
