This is the pinnacle from Casanova di Neri.

The wine Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto was first bottled as its own wine in 1988 and comes from the approximately 4-hectare vineyard Cerretalto, which is located low in the eastern part of Montalcino.

It lies along a narrow river in a naturally formed amphitheater. White truffles also grow here.

The soil is very rich in minerals, particularly iron.

It is more difficult to ripen the grapes there, and therefore the wine is not produced every year.

Harvested in the 2nd week of October 2018.

After spontaneous fermentation with whole berries for 32 days, the wine has aged for 36 months in small French barrels (225 liters, 500 liters, new and used) and 24 months in the bottle.

The aroma expresses a blend of fresh red fruits, spices, and the usual graphite.

The taste is rich and harmonious, showing an elegant and fine structure that fully reflects the 2018 harvest. The finish is balanced and very precise, with a present acidity that perfectly balances this wine's persistence, depth, and roundness.

This is a wine you never forget once you've tasted it.

It just has so many layers and is completely in balance. The tannins are perfectly integrated, and the wine never feels overwhelming.

It's hard to say how long this wine will last, but we have tasted all vintages, and the first vintage from 1988 is still completely fresh.

When purchasing 3 bottles, the wine is delivered in its original wooden case.

Critic reviews

Vinous
The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto is exotic and perfumed, displaying all of the vibrancy of the vintage through a deep core of dark red fruit, lavender tones and foreign spices. It's lifted and finessed, displaying remarkable balance. Cooling acidity combines with tactile mineral tones and citrus-laced wild berry fruits that swirl throughout.

The deep garnet-colored 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino Cerretalto is ripe and boasts a sunnier feel, with aromas of baked cherries as well as a dark mineral profile of graphite, toasted peppercorn, and dried lavender. Fleshy and full-bodied, it offers a plush tannin structure, with wonderful depth and richness through its long-lasting finish, and it retains good freshness.
