This Brunello has a medium body, ripe but balanced tannins, and a soft, long finish with dark cherry, tobacco, and a hint of chocolate. The same moderate tannin, which here has become elegant and well-balanced, is softened by fat and protein, so you'll enjoy dishes with pronounced richness and umami rather than delicate, lean preparations. The tobacco and chocolate notes match braised and slow-cooked meats, while the wine's balanced acidity keeps the mouthfeel fresh against rich sauces. Keep the intensity on par with the wine, so that neither food nor wine takes over.

About the wine

This Brunello di Montalcino is the latest high-quality wine from Castello Tricerchi. The castle was founded in the year 1441.

Tommaso has outdone himself with this full-bodied and elegant Brunello. Aromas of black cherries and strawberries with a hint of tobacco and chocolate – just like we know it from the 'regular' Brunello, but this 'riserva' is more elegant and well-balanced in its expression. The taste is smooth and lingers on the palate.

The vineyards, Vigna del Castello and Vigna del Veloder, consist of a mix of clay and sand situated at an altitude of 290 meters with a west/northwest exposure.

The vineyards' age is approximately 30 years.

The harvest took place at the beginning of October by hand, and the vinification occurs in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 23 degrees for 30 days.

The malolactic fermentation continues for five months, after which the wine ages in large Slavonian oak barrels of 15-20 hectoliters for 36 months. Afterward, the wines are aged for at least 8 months in the bottle before release.

Only 2,700 bottles were produced in this vintage.
