About the wine
Sangiovese from 350 meters altitude in Castelnuovo dell'Abate in the southeastern part of Montalcino - one of the appellation's most prestigious terroirs and home to some of Montalcino's most renowned Brunello producers. The high-altitude, east-facing slopes receive the gentle morning light, while the elevation and cool air currents from Monte Amiata provide ideal conditions for a slow and even ripening of the grapes. This combination helps give the wines the balance, freshness, and elegance for which the area is known.
Classic Brunello expression with ripe cherries and red berries, accompanied by spicy notes, a hint of fresh tobacco, and a subtle touch of forest floor. The taste is intense yet very elegant and precise. The tannins are firm and silky, while the fresh acidity gives the wine energy and elevates the fruit. The aftertaste is long and mineral with a cool, elegant tension.
2021 has already established itself as an outstanding vintage in Montalcino. A warm and dry summer provided ripe grapes with beautiful depth, while the vintage's fresh acidity and fine tannin structure have created wines with a unique combination of intensity, elegance, and precision. It is a vintage with impressive balance and energy and with great potential to develop beautifully over many years.
The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a careful selection process, so only the best grapes proceed to vinification. After a minimum of 25 days of maceration with the grape skins, the wine undergoes 36 months of slow aging in carefully selected large oak barrels of the highest quality from Mittelberger. Afterward, the wine spends a minimum of 6 months in the bottle before release.
The result is a classic Brunello with great finesse and a vibrant freshness. The wine is already incredibly inviting and shows great class, but it also has the structure to develop even more nuances over many years in the cellar.
Serve at approximately 16-18 degrees Celsius and preferably in large glasses.
