This Lessona is an elegant and mineral nebbiolo with lively acidity and chalky, fine tannins rather than a heavy structure. The tannins find their counterpoint in the richness and protein of game and mature cheeses, while the fresh acidity and the salty finish make it perfect for mushroom dishes and umami-rich, braised dishes. Choose dishes with earthy notes and a fine richness rather than very heavy or heavily spiced fare, so the wine's lightness and nerve are given room.

About the wine

Nebbiolo with nerve, length, and exquisite balance.

Showcasing the Nebbiolo grape's elegant and mineral side when allowed to grow on sandy soil in Lessona’s cool climate.

The aroma offers wild strawberries, dried flowers, citrus, and a hint of stone. The taste is precise and vibrant with lively acidity, chalky tannins, and a fine, salty finish.

‘Lessona’ has an impressive aging potential of over 30 years, but it is already beautiful in the glass now, especially with mushrooms, game, or hard cheeses.

The vines grow at an altitude of 350 meters on southwest-facing slopes.

The soil consists of ancient marine sand deposits – orange-yellow and with low pH – giving the wine both lightness and structure.

Classic Guyot cultivation is practiced, with a low yield of just 35 quintals per hectare.

Vinification occurs without temperature control, using pump-overs and délastage - a technique where the must is drained and poured back over the skins for gentle extraction and aeration.

After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for three years, two of which are in 2500-liter casks and subsequently in cement.
