This is a classic Brunello Riserva of Sangiovese with pronounced tannins, fresh acidity and good body from the warm Tuscan climate and the long aging. The tannins become softer and more rounded when they meet fatty, protein-rich dishes, so choose robustly prepared meat with a rich texture, where the fat cushions and smooths the mouth. At the same time the wine's acidity cuts through richness and umami, so braised and slow-cooked dishes fall naturally into line. Steer clear of lean fish dishes, where the tannins easily take on a metallic edge.

Certified organic (Valoritalia). Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Generous, lifted nose that slowly opens up in the glass. Lush, juicy cherry fruit laced with finely grained tannins. Has a lightness of touch that defies the actual alcohol.

Deep red. Broad-shouldered and deeply structured, with lively aromas of red and blue fruits complicated by flowers, Oriental herbs, blue and red berry flavors nicely framed by polished tannins. Dense and thick on the long finish, which features a repeating floral quality.

This monumentally satisfying Brunello is a show-stopper, just now approaching its drinking window after a few years of cellar time. Launching forth with a fanfare of savory herbs plus layers upon layers of ripe red fruit, smoky oak, flowers and chocolate.

It wafts up from the glass with a display of cedar dust giving way to black cherries, mixed with notes of sage, crushed stone and hints of smoked meats. The textures are silky and pliant in feel, with a combination of juicy acids and ripe red fruits that create a high-energy and fully satisfying impression.
