This Brunello has high acidity, well-defined but finely balanced tannins, and a core of fresh cherries with body and length. That makes it a classic companion to rich, juicy meat dishes, where the tannins meet the protein and fat and soften in the mouth, while the acidity cuts through and keeps the palate fresh. Choose dishes prepared by braising or roasting, so the wine's structure and intensity are matched without overwhelming its elegance. Umami from mushrooms and aged cheese also plays nicely into the wine's depth and complexity.

About the wine

Pure elegance and finesse - A fantastic Brunello di Montalcino - and a compelling interpretation of the vintage, unmatched by few!

The wine is filled with energy, high acidity, and plenty of cherries in both aroma and taste.

The tannins are finely balanced, completing a well-structured wine with body and length.

With a bit of air, the wine reveals even greater complexity.

From vineyards situated high at approximately 500 meters above sea level, surrounded by the most beautiful wild nature/forest, in a perfect microclimate for winemaking.

The subsoil is a mix of galestro, red clay, and sandstone. Perfect for creating the most beautiful expression of the Sangiovese grape.

Harvesting is done manually. The grapes are carefully sorted both in the field and again in the cellar by John and Zoe, before being 100% destemmed and transferred to stainless steel tanks. Here, malolactic fermentation starts spontaneously with the naturally occurring yeast strains on the grapes, a process that lasts 2-3 weeks.

Vertical presses are used to extract maximum flavor and natural acidity from the skins and seeds of the grapes, which is crucial for the wine's longevity.

After fermentation, the wine naturally sediments before being transferred to large oak barrels. The barrels are either French or Slavonian oak of the highest quality from Gabellotto - 20HL to 26HL.

After 20 months, the wine is bottled directly from the barrels, without filtration and with minimal use of sulfur dioxide.

This careful attention to detail in every phase of production ensures that each bottle not only reflects Montalcino's unique terroir but also showcases the winery's commitment to traditional artisanal quality to perfection!

The Wine Advocate
opens with aromas of rosewood, spice and dark fruit sourced from sandstone soils near Il Greppo. A pretty mineral note frames the bouquet but remains secondary to the ripe, primary fruit that drives the wine, and the palate leans into a mild, supple mouthfeel with finely powdery tannins.
