Since 1975, Mastrojanni has been one of the consistent reference points in Montalcino, and their 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is a textbook example of how Sangiovese can express itself with both finesse and power. The vintage was characterized by a dry spring and a warm summer, but with impressive temperature variations between day and night in August, which ensured a balanced and calm ripening of the grapes.

The aroma features classic notes of cherry, dried rose petals, tobacco, and a subtle hint of forest floor and spices from barrel aging.

The taste is full-bodied with a truly impressive complexity and fine, elegant tannins. There is a great balance in acidity, and the aftertaste is a long and pleasant finish.

A wine with significant aging potential, but also one that already shows beautifully with a little air in the glass.

The grapes come from vineyards at an elevation of 180-420 meters, exposed to the south, southeast, and southwest — and this is evident in the wine, which offers ripe fruit but also a crisp acidity and firm tannin structure. The subsoil consists of clay, sandstone, and marine deposits, contributing to the wine's complexity and minerality.

After manual harvesting and gentle pressing, the must undergoes a long maceration of at least 20 days. The wine is then aged for 36 months in large Allier barrels (16-54 hl), before receiving at least 6 months of bottle aging.

Brunello di Montalcino is the ruby in Mastrojanni's collection. It is a wine for those who appreciate an elegant and complex wine from tradition, craftsmanship, and terroir.
