About the wine
Lupi e Sirene has finesse, depth, and elegance. In our opinion, it is one of the best Riserva Brunello, and it already enjoys great elegance, complexity, and accessibility.
A light and delicate ruby red color. The aroma is fine and elegant with earthy and iron-like notes that clearly reflect the unique soil at Podere Le Ripi.
Riserva 2019 is the result of a vintage marked by balance and richness, and it is clearly felt in the mouth: the tannins are silky and approachable, and the wine exhibits an energy that makes it drinkable already now, but also promises beautiful development potential with time in the bottle.
The single-vineyard wine Lupi e Sirene is, like many places on Etna, planted according to the old Albarello system, i.e., as bushes.
The grapes are harvested in the first week of September and come from a single vineyard close to the winery in Castelnuovo dell’Abate.
There is a lot of granite in the subsoil here. It is planted with a density of 11,111 plants per hectare, which is among the highest seen in regular wine production.
The wine has fermented for 50 days in large open oak barrels, after which it has aged for 42 months in large barrels in the cellar, followed by a minimum of 16 months in the bottle before release.
