This Tenerife red is light and elegant, with fresh acidity, juicy red berries, a hint of pepper, and a fine smoky, volcanic minerality. It's precisely the light structure and the soft, ripe tannins that mean you should stick to lighter dishes, where the wine's freshness lifts and cleanses the palate rather than being overwhelmed. The smoky note plays beautifully against grilled and lightly spiced food, while the acidity cuts through the richness of charcuterie and slightly fattier fish. Serve it lightly chilled, and the freshness and tension in the finish become even more pronounced.

About the wine

Juicy and characterful Tenerife red with freshness, spice, and volcanic energy.

The vineyards are scattered across northern Tenerife on slopes and in small ravines shaped by volcanic activity. Trade winds from the Atlantic create a cool microclimate and a long, calm ripening of the grapes. Listán negro is a local grape variety from the Canary Islands and is believed to have naturally originated on the islands as a cross between listán blanco and negramoll. Today, it is one of Tenerife's most planted grapes and an important part of the island's wine tradition, providing red wines with plenty of energy, freshness, and a distinct imprint of the island's special terroir.

The aroma is wonderfully aromatic with red berries, a hint of pepper, and green notes. A fine mineral tone and a light smoky character give the wine its unique Tenerife expression. The taste is juicy and fresh with a light and elegant structure, ripe red berries, and a fine tension in the finish, where spice and minerality linger for a long time.

It is a versatile red wine that works really well slightly chilled.

The grapes come from altitudes ranging from 300 to 700 meters in the northwestern part of Tenerife. Here, the soil is deeper than in many other places on the island, with more clay and large amounts of volcanic rocks, which ensure drainage and give the wines both freshness and complexity. The vines are planted on their own roots - many of them very old - and are cultivated sustainably without the use of synthetic pesticides or herbicides.

The grapes are hand-harvested in small boxes and are transported early to the cellar. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks with the grapes' own yeast cells and temperature control over 12-14 days. The wine is then aged for three months in neutral French oak barrels, providing extra texture and depth without distracting from the grape's juicy fruit and the volcanic terroir.

Wine Align
This is an intriguing and distinctive listán negro, with aromas of ripe red berries, cherries, and pomegranates amplified by a whiff of volatile acidity.

Wine Align
Expressive and grippy with an expansive aromatic profile. This volcanic red from the sub-tropical Atlantic outpost of Tenerife, is made from the local listán negro is juicy and naturally spicy
91Michael Godel
Freshest of freshest varietal listán negro which means the hyperbole of acidity distracts from detecting any serious tannin while fruit and volcanic hypotheticals create their necessary union.
