A non-profit collaboration between Sclerose Vin and Copenhagen Wine – where great wine and a good cause go hand in hand.
The 2022 vintage of Carlo Giacosa's Barbaresco builds on the winery's traditional style and presents the same pure, classic nebbiolo profile as in previous years – only with a touch more beautiful fullness from the slightly warmer vintage.
In the glass, the wine is garnet red, and the nose opens wide and intense with ripe red fruits, licorice, and cinnamon in beautiful balance.
The taste is dry and full-bodied with a fine structure and a tannin-rich but well-balanced texture that provides a long, harmonious finish.
Barbaresco 2022 is ideal for hearty dishes – especially beef, lamb, and game – and it pairs excellently with mature cheeses. It is also a wine suited for calm, contemplative enjoyment without food, where its depth and complexity can truly shine.
The wine is made exclusively from nebbiolo grapes from three of the winery’s own vineyards in Barbaresco. The soil is compact with plenty of limestone and clay, and the vineyards are located at an altitude of 240–270 meters with exposure from the south, southwest, and east. The grapes are destemmed and crushed before the must ferments with skin contact in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Subsequently, the wine is aged in large French oak casks of 20–45 hl and finally in bottles in the winery's dark cellars, where it develops its elegant and traditional character.
A classic and extremely harmonious Barbaresco from Carlo Giacosa.
