This Rosso di Montalcino is youthful and full-bodied with 15% alcohol, fine but intense tannins and deep notes of red berries, cocoa and tobacco. The structure calls for dishes with plenty of flavor and ample fat and protein, so the tannins have something to bite into and are softened by the rich proteins. At the same time, Sangiovese's fresh acidity cuts through the fat and keeps the palate fresh, while the spicy oak note plays nicely against grilled and braised meat. Serve the wine at 17-18 degrees, so the young tannins seem least austere.

About the wine
Hand harvested in mid-September
Natural fermentation in steel tanks. Limited addition of sulfites.
Aged on the lees in Bourgogne barriques for at least 18 months, max 10% new wood
Bottling takes place no earlier than 2 years after harvest, without any filtration.
The color is a beautiful ruby red
The scent has notes of roses, cherries and tobacco, in a nice mix with sweet and spicy notes from the barrel. The taste is deep notes of red berries and chocolate/cocoa, held together by intense but fine tannins. Really nice structure and excellent balance.
The wine is still youthful in expression and can easily be stored for many more years.
Goes perfectly with food with lots of flavor.
