This plot belonged to the monks of the Bèze monastery, and vines were planted here as early as 630 AD.
The wine is referred to as the "King of Wines", and Camille Rodier noted that this one wine contained all the good qualities from the entire Burgundy area.

The domain's plot is 1.5 hectares and the vines were planted in 1949.

The Domaine's Grands Crus are matured in oak barrels (80% new barrels) made from wood from the Allier and Nivernais regions. Light to medium roasting is preferred, as this ensures the perfect harmony between the wine and the wood's tannins.

Chambertin Clos De Bèze has an intense purple color in the glass. The scent is almost majestic, reminiscent of small red berries and licorice. The taste is nicely balanced, clean and rich. Spicy and precise tannins give roundness and lightness in the finish.

A super elegant wine.

Cask sample. Intense nose of macerated blackberries. Thick and sweet and utterly flattering. Not for classicists but lots of fun and great appeal for everyone else.

Dark intense purple. This has the most interesting nose to date of the grands crus because the least lush. More volume of fruit across the palate, less lush and more juicy, with a precision too.

The 2020 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has a very elegant bouquet with Earl Grey tinged red fruit. Wonderful composure here and very focused. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, vibrant and fresh with a dash of black pepper towards the finish. This is superb.
Vivid, ripe but fresh black cherry notes are perfumed and expressive on the nose. The palate adds a touch of cocoa to the proceedings and shines with rather fine, elegant tannins.
